Peri-operative Smoking Cessation

Our next project will look at peri-operative smoking practice in the region.

The project was successfully pitched by ST3 trainee Dr Swati Gupta from a competitive field, at the STAR Annual Congress in June 2019. ​

We aimed to determine: 

​

  • Current practice in pre-operative smoking cessation advice in the region

​

  • Anaesthetists current practices and beliefs

​

We aimed to: 

​

  • Add evidence to ongoing issues of whether smoking cessation close to surgery may have detrimental effects on PPCs

​

​

We look forward to announcing the results presently
