STAR Commitee Positions

STAR – Severn Trainee Anaesthetic Research Network – Committee positions!!

For those who do not know, STAR is the regional trainee research network (TRN) for Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. We are part of a wider network of TRNs nationally (RAFT) and are proud to be one of the most effective and highest output networks in the UK.

We are currently looking to recruit two new committee members for the roles of;

-              Membership secretary

-              Local liaison lead

In these roles the successful applicant will have specific responsibilities relating to the running of the network, but will also sit on the executive committee and will have the opportunity to develop projects and develop their skills and portfolio in research, QI and management. We tend to work collaboratively, with all committee members working together on major projects – recent examples include PREdS and PEACH-sw, both of which were multi-centre observational studies run across several deaneries that led to national presentations and publications in Anaesthesia. We also develop educational resources, run conferences and are involved in overseeing regional delivery of national projects (e.g. POPPY, SNAP3).

Being part of the committee involves coordinating delivery of projects, such as those listed and is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, network with regional and national experts and develop your research, QI and management CV. It is also very rewarding!

To be suited for the role, we want hardworking, committed individuals who will work well as part of a team and will be able to take on leadership and self-directed activity as needed.

If you have an interest in research and QI and would like to be involved, please send a short summary of why you would be well suited to the role to stargroupresearch@gmail.com Please feel free to apply for either or both roles – just mention on your application if you have a preference or would feel comfortable with either.

No previous research or management experience is necessary, although if you have particular skills and/or experience you feel would be beneficial, please highlight it in your application.

There is no specific grade or specialty required to be part of STAR, we welcome applications from anyone working below consultant grade (from SHO upward) in anaesthesia, critical care or pain.

Application deadline: FRIDAY 31st January 2025
